FCS YU Fins
The FCS YU Fins are the creation of Japanese surfboard designer Yoshinori Ueda.
Yoshinori is know for his surfboards, YU surfboards, and has been shaping boards for many pro riders, most notably Idonesian star Rizal Tanjung.
These fins were specifically made to address the needs of surfers in the middle weight range and are therefore ideal for those of you weighing between 130-180 lbs or 60-80 kg.
How Much Will This Fin Set Cost?
The YU fins retail for US $40.00. Below are the current prices of this fin set at a variety of online stores and surf shops.
Prior to the introduction of the FCS YU Glass Flex Fin, surfers in the middle weight range had to make do with either the M3 or the M5 fins which, unfortunately, are sometimes not ideal.
This is because some surfers find the FCS M3 fins to be too small and the FCS M5 fins too big.
These surfboard fins therefore address a real surfing need.
Design & Feel
Like the M3 and M5 fins, the FCS YU fins come as a tri fin set and can therefore be installed in any thruster or 5 fin surfboard with FCS fin plugs.
The construction of these fins is Glass Flex providing them with the same flex and memory as laminated fiberglass fins. They are also clear in color which gives them the appearance of authentic glass on fins.
Consisting of a long rake and a narrow tip, the FCS YU Glass Flex fins enable you to make quick directional changes at extremely high speeds.
The center fin of this fin set is also smaller than that of the M5 fins allowing for quick tail release off the top of the wave.
Also with a sweep of 34.9° for the side fins and 34.6° for the center fin, greater than that of both the M3 and M5 fins, these fins will allow you to do long turning arcs!
