Wave Conditions
Kelly had these surf fins designed because he needed a better fin than his previous K 2.1 fins for the long walled waves of Rincon. This was because his K 2.1 fins were designed for beach breaks and barrels.
Design
The FCS K3 fins come as a three fin thruster fin set with two side fins and one center fin. This therefore means that these fin can only be used in your 3 fin thruster or 5 fin surfboard.
Since this is a performance glass fin the K3 fin has a stiff traditional feel of a glass on fin. This will add more down the line speed to your surfing and will allow you to do the long arcing turns that Slates is so famous for. These fins will also allow you to make quick, smooth transitions from turn to turn.
The Look
You will definitely dig Kelly’s new artwork on the K3 fins. The side fins are black with 8 white concentric circles in the center of the fin. The center fin on the other hand is the complete reverse with the fin being white with black concentric circles.
Kelly has chosen 8 rings for his artwork due to his 8 world titles at the time of designing the fin. Kelly has since won another world title setting a record of 9 world titles. The FCS K-3 is also printed on the base of the fin.
Surfer Specifications
The FCS K3 PG surfboard fin is best suited for you if you are a medium sized surfer weighing between 130 lbs to 180 lbs.
These fins are also ideal for surfers who had a board with glass on fins and now have a new board with an FCS fin system. These have the same feel as regular glass on fins making them the perfect transitional fins. These fins are also available in Glass Flex.
